About me…

My name is Margo Svendsen, and I’ve worked as a Speech-Language Pathologist for over 21 years. After reading Underestimated by JB & Jamison Handley, my professional path took a transformative turn—it opened my eyes to the power of spelling and purposeful motor skills for communication. Seeing my own former student begin openly spelling on a letterboard was life-changing.

Even after two decades in the field, I often felt that we were only getting a glimpse of what my students truly wanted to communicate. Underestimated led me to watch Spellers: The Movie, which deepened my conviction that all individuals have a voice worth hearing. That experience inspired me to pursue training with the International Association for Spelling as Communication (I-ASC) and become a certified S2C Practitioner.

When I’m not working, I live in Sherwood, Oregon, with my husband, our two daughters, and our two whippets. I love reading, walking, hiking, traveling, camping, and practicing yoga.
